Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me. (Matthew 25:40)
In February 1972, Lutheran Elementary Schools in Michigan started working together to gather their February chapel offerings and designating them for a ministry selected by the Michigan District. This annual campaign became known as “Hearts for Jesus”. In February 2025 MOST Ministries was blessed to be that designated “Hearts for Jesus” ministry. MOST Ministries and its work in the mission field was highlighted during chapel messages in Michigan District Lutheran schools during February.
The phrase, "Hearts for Jesus" tells the children in our Lutheran schools that we are showing love to our Savior by showing love to people in need in Matthew 25 Jesus tells us that when we help others, we are actually helping him.
This past February, Lutheran school students did exactly that – they helped people in need with their donations of chapel offerings designated for missions through MOST Ministries. MOST staff members and volunteers traveled across the state to share the story of MOST Ministries in chapel presentations in Michigan Dis
trict’s Lutheran schools. They shared how MOST sends short term mission teams into the international mission field help people who are in need of medical care, clean water, better eyesight and in need of Gospel. They shared how MOST mission teams share the Gospel in word and deed.
Many students also helped by donating their old eyeglasses that are no longer needed. During chapel messages they learned how these eyeglasses will be put to good use in the mission field, after they are refurbished by MOST Ministries volunteers. And how lives are impacted when people in need receive eyeglasses distributed by mission team members at MOST eyeglass clinics.
At MOST, we appreciate all the schools, teachers, and students who participated in Hearts for Jesus this year. Thank you to those of you who took the time to learn more about MOST made financial gifts through your chapel offerings, who donated eyeglasses, and who included MOST in your prayers!
Special thanks also to the Michigan District and to Travis Grulke, Superintendent of Schools, for sponsoring this Hearts for Jesus effort every year and for extending the invitation to MOST Ministries to be this year’s highlighted mission. Thank you all for your support!
